culture shock comedy

one day a desi student wanted to paste an envelope and went to the office room to ask for some gum.

student (s): can i have a gum.
office assistant1 (oa): i dont have it.
s : can u help me if i can get it somewhere here.
oa: i dont know.

suddenly the graduate program assistant (gpa) who hears this conversation says,

gpa : i have a gum.
student goes into her office room and recieves a chewing gum.
s: what is this.
gpa : you asked for gum, rite.
s: i wanted something to paste an envelope.
gpa : started laughing and said oh u mean glue.

and to add to the students embarassment the oa and couple of other staffs joined in and started laughing at the situation.
